Our new-to-us 02 Georgetown has a Magic Chef microwave oven. On our first trip, we went to use it in the same way we use our Sharp at home to thaw frozen bread before we toast it.

I punched in the minutes, then the "power level" selsction, then a 5 (for half power). Hit "start", no reaction. I can't find any way to select reduced power that the controller will accept and continue the process. The owner's guide is neither use nor ornament. It only says "select the level of power though this control".

This isn't WW3, but it's damned irritating. Any suggestions, folks?

Some functions require that the clock be set before using them. Have you tried with the clock set? If so then you may have a defective control panel

Good point, Wizard. We have a two-way switch on the kitchen cabinet that sends power to either the microwave or the electric element in the water heater.

We always use campground power rather than our own LPG to heat the water and I've never bothered to reset the clock on the micorwave when we switch back. The microwave loses its power when we're on the road anyway, so I'd never bothered to reset it.

I'll try that tomorrow.

I finally got the book out. It turns out the logic is opposite way round to our residential Sharp. At home, we set cook time then power. On the RV oven you set percent power and then cook time.
