HELP!!! have a Dometic model #RM2553 fridge in my Hi-Lo. Yesterday, it was working just great on 110 volts and also on 12volt. This morning, I went out and turned it on at 110 as we are leaving tomorrow a.m. for a trip. I really didn't notice hearing the fan running. It was actually frosting up the freezer up and my wife was happy. It was about 40 degrees in the unit. I ran and did some chores and bam, my wife said it wasn't cooling any more. I still have not heard the fan and it smells like an insulation odor though the outside bent. I am not familiar with all of the names of items, but the one pipe that runsat the mottom is hot. I unplugged the fridge from the 110. Can I still use it on 12volt? Was there a recall on this unit.We just bought this used Hi-Lo. Help please.

Well, the outside piping is supposed to get hot, actually very hot at the bottom. But the burnt smell is not a good sign. Can you see any indication of a melted wire anywhere?

I guess I would try the 12v mode, to see if the "burnt insulation" smell was coming from the 110 side. However, Very little of the wiring is actually 110, so its not likely to be isolated like that.
Does it also have an LP gas mode?

Make sure the vents and burn chamber are cleaned real good and HOPE.
Here is a White paper about how it works. It never hurts to understand the tech.

Worked fine once the camper was on level ground. Just got back from a short trip (5) days in the Dallas area and work just fine on 110 volt. Running on 12 volt on the drive home for 11 hours, worked great also. Will be lweaving in the a.m. tomorrow for another trip to Columbus Ohio and then down to Bowling Green KY. Hope all is well. Thanks for everyones advice and help.

How cold is it outside there? It could make a difference.
