My MH has a norcold refrigerator that runs on propane or 120. My question is does it switch to electric when I have the inverter turned on or does it stay on propane. It automatically goes to 120 when I am on shore power.
Thans for the reply.

Yes. It most certainly will. It is one of the three high draw appliances that you MUST be sure is turned off before turning on your inverter. That is the refrigerator, the air conditioner and the water heater.
Make sure your refrigerator in not on "Auto" when turning on the inverter. This will keep it on propane.

How big is your inverter if just 600w may just have TV's off it. Most high watt appliances are not wired off inverter because of high current draw. If thats the case with your older coach it would stay on LP until you hook up to CG shore power.

The answer is "maybe". All depends on how your particular coach is wired and you didn't mention the make & model of coach or type & size of inverter. More info from you would help us give a better response.

Some coach manufacturers wire the fridge to an inverter circuit and others do not, so there is no single answer. And as 007 says, if you have only the small inverter for the tvs and such, the fridge is definitely NOT on an inverter circuit.

The MH is a 1997 Safari Sahara, 36 ft with 4 house batteries and two chassis batteries. The inverter is physically large, about 12 x 8 x 22, and does run the microwave satisfactorally but not the ice maker.
Thanks for the replies.

abe low, unplug ref. at outside vent. plug in a recptacle tester and turn on inverter. DO you have power? If so then the inverter is wired to the ref. receptacle. You can override this be manually putting Ref. in gas mode or if you don't want to use gas leave it in the auto mode; it will default to electric mode of operation.
