Can someone enlighten us on the pros/cons of replacing interior 12v bulbs with the new LEDs? I have been reading conflicting info. on other sites. There are direct replacement LEDs on the market for 1141 bulbs etc.

The pros would be less current consumption, less heat, and higher longevity. Cons are expense and, depending on the design of the LED and lens, perhaps less brightness.

Probably there are others but all I could think of.

Hitchhiker summed it up. The other problem is that they are directional. For flood applications you need more LEDs in the bulb angled to cover the area to be lit.

I tried just one to experiment. They are not good for reading at my age! I now use it for a general night-lite.

I put in a couple of these. One next to the table and one in the overhead over the bed as a reading light. https://www.innovativelight.com/silverlight-led-1-watt-..._p_1482_11504_10.cfm

They work OK, but they are marginal. The light is too blue and they put out a ring of light like a flashlight.
