Replace Filter 8000 Onan Generator

Have just changed oil on 8000 Onan Generator, but cannot find video on how to change filter.

Download the manual from Onan. If my memory is correct, there is a door under the unit that hides the filter. It's just a small screw on filter. Don't forget that the maintenance schedule calls for a new fuel filter and new coolant cap every few years.

Did you actually refill the unit with new oil? I believe you will have a mess on your hands if you take the filter off while the gender still has oil in it.

If this is the first time the oil filter is being changed, be prepared to grunt a bit. Most everyone who has commented on their initial change has had difficulty breaking the filter loose. Based on my own experience, I did too.
