Replacement for Duo-Therm heater?

In another related thread, someone mentioned some sort of catalytic replacement heater for the standard Duo-Therm heaters commonly used - anyone here familiar with anything like that - an actual unit designed, ducted and vented properly for direct replacement?

The heater in our older KIT 5er isn't operating properly, and if there was a reasonable alternative replacement, I'd appreciate info and perhaps a pointer...
