I have replaced all the foam and isn't that hard. Find the right thickness and firmness and the way to cut it is an old electric carving knife. And have at it. You will need hog rings pliers and rings on son seats and have fun. When putting new foam make sure you install a slide surface so the fabric can move.
Most cushions come from the factory with about enough support to hold up the fabric. Another cost cutting effort. I had a local foam supplier cut the foam to the proper size and they installed the covers on the new foam. Can be hard to find the right thickness. This company receives their foam in blocks about 6' tall by 6' wide and 10' long. They have a special horizontal bandsaw that slices out the size they need. The other issue is that some cushions are Dacron wrapped like mine and they had this to cover the foam. No additional charge to put the covers on. There any several different densities to choose from. I chose the firmest and it is perfect. I really hate sitting at the dinette and sinking down to the plywood. Not now. I also replaced the foam on the convertible couch and it is wonderful.
The sooner you make the change the better off you'll be.
