This Basement A/C Unit use requires a 2 Stage Thermostat.

I have successfully replaced the Coleman RVP 6795-3451 Wall Thermostat with a Honeywell TH5220D110. It costs about $69. This thermostat is a 2 Heat/2 Cool Capable unit. There are 8 to 13 Wires from the RVP 6795. 3 Wires on one connector Blue, Red & White are controls for the Furnace. One double connector for Furnace Fan if equipped. Eight wires on the other are for the A.C.. I connected them to the Honeywell as Terminals as follows.
Coleman RVP Honeywell
Heat Red 12 Volt Positive RH
Heat White Heat Control W
Heat Blue 12 Volt Neg. C
AC Red 12 Volt positive RC Note: Jumper stays
AC Yellow Stage 1 Cooling Y
AC Orange Stage 2 Cooling (compressor) Y2
AC Blue C with Heat Blue
AC Black G for High Fan Only
AC Purple G For Low Fan Only
or connect SPDT switch Center to G on HONEYWELL and Blk to one spade-Purple to the Other to switch between speeds manually

AC Grey (2 Wires) these are freeze switches and may or may not be used on your unit. I believe you can elect not to use and thermostat/AC will work with out it. If you have experienced freeze up you will have to find an alternate or original replacement.

Some others have found that the Blue's did not need to be connected, however in my unit they where needed. It also powers the Thermostat fine.

It is necessary to follow the setup and menu item 1 System type must be set to 8 - one heat/2 cool conventional. The remainder of the defaults will work however you may want to fine tune to your use. Setup Menu item 12 determines Auto Change Over. The options are 0-Manual, 1 Auto change (Heat/cool/Auto/Off), 2 Auto Only. Auto can allow an automatic change from heat to cool as the system demand requires. A 3 Degree separation from heat set point to Cooling Set point is required.

The 6795-3451 was a pain and so inaccurate. Finding a replacement was also difficult. This Honeywell & termination works for me. I hope it helps someone else. The Auto - Auto sure is an asset.

Steve, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and thank you for the information on the Honeywell T'stat. I am sure it will help others that have experienced some of the same problems. It sounds like you have been working in the HVAC industry. I am sure you will enjoy this website and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
