Residential Refrig Repair

I have a maytag residential refrigerator in my RV (Model #MFI2269VEM10 ) that is alerting to a high-temp.

After several days of self-repair attempts (checking fans, defrost, etc) I have confirmed that there is a problem, but I have no idea what it is.

The freezer is getting cold (-2F) but the fridge will not go below 42F, and the door panel claims that it is 56F. Further, the ice compartment will reach 5F, but will not produce any ice.

I do not have any of the normal symptoms of a bad controller, and hate to replace a part that is most certainly not the problem.

At this point, I am going to have to call a repair person to come look at it. I am looking for tips from others that have done this before, as to how to best prep the work space for the repair. I was going to remove it from the hole and have it accessible. Beyond that, I didn't know if there was anything else I should be considering or doing for prep?

2 summers ago I helped a friend with a dead refrigerator. The repair man wouldn't come out unless it was accessible. I removed all the trim and brackets and moved it into the middle of his kitchen and had it on a furniture moving dolly The repair man found a leak, repaired it and recharged the system and all was good. The bottom line is just make it accessible.

I had the very same issue. You have a bad temp sensor relay. It is located behind the lite assembly inside. This bad sensor also controls the fan motors that control your ice maker relay. The new sensor relay should fix your high temp and ice maker issue.

Also if this Maytag is still under warranty call the 1-800 number on the owners manual and have a tech come out and fix it.

Good luck.

good advice

Thanks all for the advice.

Busskipper -the website you gave me was one that I had seen in my searches, but ignored. Since you sent the link, I went ahead and tried the chat. During the chat they referred me to a part, which happens to be the same part that akcretired just posted about.

With all of the indicators pointing that direction...the repair seems very simple, so I have ordered the replacement part and will know on Wednesday if that resolves it.

Thank you all for your help!
