Hi

looking to eventually replace our rooftop ac units that have now both died a slow and long drawn out death after 20+ years of life.

Currently have a portable unit valiantly trying its best to cope with the texas heat until we can save up and replace the roof ones.

With so many makes and models out there what are the best brands of rootop a/c units?

As in best value, performance longevity that kind of thing.

thanks in advance

I bought a Colemen. Had a couple on an older motor home and one on a popup camper and didn't give me any problems.

I have been in the refrigeration and A/C business for 40 plus years. The older Dometics were good units. The last 7 or 8 years, Dometic are not so good.

Now we have a Chinese knock-off (Advent) that is un proven. But in typical Chinese fashion, they probably duplicated the problems.

Carrier had a great unit and is now out of the RV market.

For the money now, the better roof top units are manufactured by Coleman.

Our old units are Coleman delta t's which have been great till they died and could get most parts even being 20+ years old.

Thanks for the info on dometic advent and carrier seems that Coleman could be the way to go. Seen the advents at rvupgrade and had wondered just how good they are due to being a good price & looking very similar to the dometics.

Time to start saving!
