Roof top units have freon charge ports like a car?
Before i climb up there and try to recharge the freon I was wondering if there are the high & low pressure ports to hook upto

Ditto. You'll need tap-a-ports.

Agreed as a general rule.

Not unless you add them and the tap ports I guarantee will leak. If it is really low on freon, this being a sealed system, has a leak which must be repaired or the coolant will leak out again.
Why do you think it needs to have coolant added?

As strange as it may sound, service ports on these style air conditioners are against federal regulations, the same was as they are against federal regulations on window air conditioners.

They do not come with charging ports, you have to install a tap. I have installed taps on units that have small leaks, cheaper than a new A/C unit. I hear a lot about them leaking but have had some in use for years with no problem.
What refrigerant do you need? New units from the last few years take R410 while older units take R134 and before that R22.
Coolant is something you put in a radiator. Freon is a trademark, it's like calling all automobiles a Chevrolet.

Both AC's work, I just like to hook up and make sure they have a full charge.
How do I tell on these which is low pressure side?
Ps: Fed regs, R U kidding! next talk about the labels on a bed.....stop it that is silly

Gauging up to a sealed critical charge system is always a bad idea, unless you have a real reason to do so. Just asking for trouble.

Ok to disagree but almost every hvac guy I used in my business advised against it. When you tap it you are introducing a leak point. RV ac are not meant to be recharged. If it's working .why mess with it ? . It could be a 600 to 1200 $ mistake. Having to ask about the low pressure side location isn't a good sign you've got a handle on the system
All that said , best of luck ! It's nice to have a good working ac to be sure!

You just said you disagreed with those who say leave the cooling system alone.... Thats ok, as I said, but then you dont know where the LP line versus HP lines are, a pretty basic thing to know. So ? your disagreement with those who work on these systems for a living is based on what real experience .........? My only point was know what your doing before you blindly dive in.
I'm not a expert, didnt, work on them deeply, but had lots of them in my business and had several days classes in how they operated in order to diagnose my costs/ honesty of repair services. What that taught me is I dont have the equipment to"properly" repair but thats just me
I Say go for it either way its a great learning experience
