I am sure this has been discussed, but I could not find it. Here is my question, there is this really, really nice park that only has 30 amp service, my coach is 50 amp. It seems my A/C alone pulls 24 amps. Am I out of luck. It seems with the hot water heater and fridge I would be over 30 amps real quick.

We only run 1 of our 2 ac's when on 30amp and when starting, it will usually pull 15-20amps then settle to 11-12amps. the fridge usually pulls 3-4 amps on ac so we switch to LP. The WH will usually pull 10-12 amps so we run it on LP also. Bootomline is to run as much on LP when hooked up to 30amps and you should be ok.

I believe your coach has an energy management system. This system automatically senses the amperage available and will control loads to try to stay within the 30amps. The area of concern is running the A/C and the toaster or microwave when the A/C is on. Normally, the system limits the other circuits by cutting off the water heater than the second compressor then a/c fan speed then the refrig. As long as the power is a good 30amp and not low voltage you shouldn't have problems.

You know I totally forgot about the Propane option....duh. And yes my coach does have an energy management system. Thank for the good information. I have a very nice surge/management system that I put inline between the source and the coach so I will be able to see if I have got good voltage and amperage. BTW I have basement air so it is going to be pulling about 24 amps when it is on.

Our coach is 50 amp, but we hook up to 30 amp all the time with no problems.

We leave the water heater and fridge on electric, and of course there are lights, battery charger, TV, satellite receiver, etc. also running at any given time. We find we can run any one additional big current user at a time - one air conditioner OR the microwave OR the washer/dryer OR an electric heater with no problems. All we have to do is remember to turn off the air or the electric heater if we want to run the microwave or to wait until the microwave is finished if we want to start the washer. With an energy management system, you should have no problem at all as long as the park voltage is high enough to begin with. If not, your surge protector should protect you.

Hi AceClark,
If you have an EMS there will be a screen for monitoring and programming the system. You'll also have an instruction book for the programming and to tell you what each screen display is telling you.
