Running genset in the winter

Why does it harm a gen set to run it with no load on it?
I just wanna run the engine. How does this affect the inverter? A no load on a gen set shouldn't hurt the electronic side of the unit.

Not to my knowledge. However, you're only exercising half of the system. If you're trying to do the monthly run to keep everything in shape, you should have about 50% load on the genset. Usually an A/C or heater plugged in and running will do the trick.

Loading the gen set will cause the winding to warm up and keep them from soaking up too much moisture. Moisture is a killer on any electrical device. Just put one of the 1500 wat heaters in the coach and set it on high and run the gen set for 30 miutes every 30 days and you will be fine.
