I have 1200 watts of solar on my roof, and being a KISS type of guy, I just drilled a hole (holes), ran the wire through that hole, then caulked that with silicone, done.
Has not leak in the 10 years it's been there. Fast, Easy, Cheap.

Well, I guess I'm going to to the gang box thing I mentioned in my original post. It's cheap and a bit better IMO than just caulking a hole. If it was on a house that sits still, I'd trust doing that more.
