Should I leave black tank open or closed after initial dumping while at my site?

You never want to leave it open. The solids will not drain out if there is no liquid to help move them out of the tank. After you initially dump, close tank and refill with water to at least 1/3 full. Then use liberal amounts of water if possible each time you use the tank and then try and dump when you are above 2/3 full if possible. If you are moving camp before the tank is that full, try and fill up to 2/3 level before dumping and then flush it several times if possible before refilling. I also recommend some type of toilet chemical to be in the tank.
One more thing, when you dump, refill to that 1/3 level before moving to the next campground so that it can slosh around in there while moving.
