We've used Scotts without a problem for over 30 years of RVing. As for chemical, I've used a few, but always go back to Thexford formalin base. The hot days of SoCal and the West make the other products less than successful in keeping odor down. Just my experience.

Saw a nice test of this at a recent RV boot camp - just put a few squares of your favorite toilet paper in a jar or glass of water then shake it a bit. If it dissolves easily, it'll work just fine for your black tank.

A lot depends on the house paper: "Qulited" types seem to break down slower and/or are harder to flush

Scotts single ply.. .Breaks down faster than Tetford, (RV type) and is softer to the sensitive parts as well.

As it happens that's the brand the Camp Store here carries. Scotts. Cheaper too.

I don't think it really matters what kind of paper that is used. I think you just need to use plenty of water, no matter what TP (if any) is used.

I have used several types of TP over the years, with out any problems, until the last two dumps. You do NOT want to use the Scott 1000 sheets per roll 1 ply marked "Now Stronger". Give it the test, in a glass of water, not in the tank.

Black Tank handle

To the party who said that they lubricate their black tank handle; is there something special you have to do, or just squirt some silicone or oil base onto the handle shaft?

I have used Scott 1000 sheets per roll 1 ply & Scotts Extra Soft 2 ply 365/24 without any problems with either one of them.
In fact lately I have been using one roll of one and the next roll the other.
Had some of those $1 off coupons and stocked up.

It breaks down enough to go through the small hose of Sewer Solution and looking through the clear connection. No clumps seen.

Use plenty of water

OH! I dump every 12 days the 40 gal holding tank. sometimes it is not completely full.

This runs like a play - to RV TP or not to RV TP that is the question.

we have had two travel trailers, three popups, and five motorhomes since the sixtys. We have never used RV toilet paper and we have never had a problem. I say, use whichever you like.
