RVQ Grill Regulator Issue

We just purchased a 2007 Fleetwood Discovery that came with an RVQ grill. The grill has a 10 ft quick disconnect hose that connects to the regulator. The motorhome does not appear to have any external connection to it's propane tank, so I purchased a fitting to adapt the grill regulator to use disposable 16 oz tanks. However when I screw on a tank I get no flow of propane as I rotate the valve on the grill. Is this regulator not designed for that type of usage? I assumed, perhaps wrongly, the hose would plug into a motorhomes LP supply having the same pressure as a disposable tank. Or is this system designed to have an intermediate regulator beween the MH LP tank and the grill regulator?
Any help would be appreciated

Jack

The RVQ regulator is a low pressure regulator that needs to be hooked up after the MH regulator. In other words it's a low pressure regulator. The MH tank and the screw on 16 oz tank are high pressure devices. I'm guessing that the RVQ regulator is seeing the higher pressure and preventing flow. To use the RVQ you'll need to tap into the piping after the MH regulator. Another possibility would be to remove the RVQ regulator. I don't know how safe this is or if it will work. Perhaps somebody else can chime in with the answer to that.

Thanks for the input. That makes sense. Since I don't have, at least could not find one, an external LP supply on the MH I will try to find a new regulator that I can use with the disposable tanks.

Jack, if the grill came with the motor home from the factory it will have the quick connect on the coach. Have you looked under the coach. Is will not be inside a sealed compartment; in case of a leak but could be in a vented one. If you cannot find it call Fleetwood customer service for location.

FYI, the RVQ connection for my 2006 Jayco Escapade Class C MH was located just below the bracket designed to hang the RVQ on. This connection was external and was just below the fiberglass, body.

On my 06 Providence the quick connect was behind the curbside livingroom slide to the rear. To better control the heat on the grill I ordered a needle valve to go behind the regulator on the hose. It helps a lot. The standard control valve will not turn the flame low enough by its self.

We just spent 4 days camping at a state park here in Ohio. I finally found the LP outlet! It is behind the passenger living room slide on the rear end. Wow, have to crank your head around to see it. But now that I know where it is shouldn't be too hard to get to.
Thanks for all the input everyone.

Jack
