Samsung Refrigerator not cold!
We have a 2 year old household Samsung refrigerator with bottom drawer/door freezer.
The problem is the upper refrigerator half will not get over 50 degrees F.
Any ideas?

fridg not cold
I would look for lacking air flow to upper compartment fan not running or cooling coil iced up

OK...same as mine.
I've not had this problem. In fact, I have the opposite. I have to set my refer to 40* to keep it from freezing.
Suggestion...try to shut the refer off and sit for a couple hours with the doors open. Keep the freezer door shut. Restart and see if the problem still exists. If it starts acting right, you might have had some freezing of cooling coils. If it doesn't start operating properly then...
There are a couple mods that should have/be done. The first is a fix for the defrost drain line to keep it from freezing up. I wish I could remember the second one I had done. Any Samsung tech should be able to help you on that one.
Access to thermostat sensors is reasonably easy through the front doors of the refer. Most electronic components related to temp regulation are also accessed in the same manner.
If your freezer is operating as expected I would think your first option is to have refer sensor systems checked to see if they are working properly. Since the refer and freezer evaporator systems are separate but share the same compressor, I compressor problem would probably affect both areas.

More than likely the evaporator coil is frozen up and not defrosting properly. This stops the air flow into the fresh food section of the refrigerator.

Check one door not being closed all the way, sometimes the safety latch will not allow the door to close all the way. If freezer is cooling all the way, this might be your problem

There were issues with the Samsung 197 - the predecessor to the RF18. On that model, the tab from the defrost heater to the condenser drain was too short and did not extend into the drain tube. As a result, water off the coils would accumulate and freeze blocking the drain. The coils would freeze and cooling became ineffective. In most cases, there was water at the bottom of the fridge. Fix is to remove shelves and the panels covering the center of the rear fridge interior to access the drain. Check the tab to insure it goes into the drain and does not end above it. Can purchase a new longer tab ($4.) from a parts dealer. I would be surprised if it is a problem in the RF-18. The guts of the fridge are made by Haier so Samsung did not even acknowledge the design defect but it is easily repaired. Good luck. There is a lengthy thread on this issue here from 3 or 4 or more years ago. Good luck,
