We are on our shakedown cruise with the new rig. The toilet isn't holding water in the bowl.

Now, this usual cause is debris of some sort under the rubber seal. This toilet leaked before ever being used. I did use the supplied Sealand cleaning stick but it is still leaking. Any ideas why it is leaking?

The seal must be improperly installed. It is easy to get to the seal to check it out. I just replaced mine. To take it apart and look at it would take about 1/2 hour.

Ok I went ahead and took off the clam clamps and took the bowl off to look at the seal. Both the seal and ball were clean.

Now that I mounted the bowl back on, I have a drip on the outside. Water is dripping out the front side of the bowl onto the floor.

Torquing down the band clamp has the leak down to a minimal. It looks like the tiolet needs to go back towards the wall a hair, not sure. But it is all the way against the wall, no room to move it back.

Any ideas on how to get it to not leak?

The drip down the side might be from the water valve on the side of the toilet. It is held on with two screws, it may be loose. If the seal was in good shape there is a possibility that it has the wrong seal. There is one seal for toilets with an over flow hole and one for toilets with out. Possibly the seal was up side down. One side does say up.

Make sure that the overflow in the bowl's wall has enough water.
the last time I changed the seals and reinstalled the bowl, I had installed the metal clamp over the two plastic rings, when i tried it it leaked, I removed the metal clamp and noticed that the 2 plastic rings are both identified with "front", i had one backwards, after putting it back together, no more leaks!

I bet you that is it. I didn't make sure both fronts were to the front. It appears to not be leaking right now but I'll check on those plastic rings later this week. Weird how that would make a difference as they still clamped together.
