Sensor Indicators Reversed (Winnebago)

Well, I found another issue with our new Winnebago but not too serious this time. I noticed some issues with the holding tank sensors and not clear on the issue so finally today took the time to sort it out clearly. We are sitting a night out at a FHU park so thought I would experiment. Here is what I discovered:
1. The grey and black tank release levers are correctly labeled on the outside.
2. The grey and black tank indicators in the coach are reversed. They are likely just reversed on the wiring. I pulled off the board but it was not at all clear what wire went to what.
I found this to be clear by trial and effort. I would fill up the grey tank with the kitchen sink and then go and empty the tank and that water came through fine (I have a clear elbow). When I would fill the sink over and over the Black sensor indicator would show 1/3 then 2/3, etc. So I know as I filled the grey tank the black tank indicator would respond!

So, the DW is quite practical and suggests we simply make a really nice label and stick it over the current labels in the coach. Then they will read correctly. That is an easy fix. We have a label maker at our S&B home so will take care of that when we return. For the present I just need to remember that they black monitor is really showing the grey levels and black is really reading the grey tank level.

Just thought I would share in the event others are scratching their heads on the sensors not making sense.

In a related matter I sorted out the sink in the bathroom - it does go into the black tank - the manual says some models do and some do not. Looks like ours is plumbed with kitchen sink and shower into grey and bathroom sink and toilet into black.

Happy trails... leave SD tomorrow and head for Nebraska - Fort Robinson.

The grey and black tank sensors were reversed on our 2015 Tour also. We had them corrected along with many other problems here at the factory service center in Forest City.

We still have not figured out what drains into what holding tank. We know the toilet empties into the "black" tank but can not figure what drains into "grey 1" and "grey 2".

They were reversed on a 2002 Cedar Creek 5er we had! It was an easy fix, just had to figure which wire was for which tank!

To figure out what drains into what.....
1. Empty all tanks and then close the valves, then run clear water into all sinks, showers, toilet (about five gallons through each).
2. Your toilet obviously will go to black tank so no guesswork there.
3. Get some food coloring and mix with a gallon of water. Poor that colored water into one sink or shower. If you suspect a bath sink is going to the black tank, poor the colored water in that sink and see if the water goes to that black tank.
4. Open tank drains one at a time and see which one has colored water in it.

You might have to do this process a few times rinsing all colored water out of the tanks each time, but eventually you will know just what tank that each fixture drains into.
