Service Contract vs Insurance

I didn't know where else to put this, so here it is.

I have a service contract ("long term warranty") on my MH as well as normal insurance. I have two items which are in need of repair, one of which is supposedly covered by the service contract and both are covered by insurance. My service contract provider says that the one item should be handled by my insurance and my insurance said they will cover it if necessary, but it should be covered by the service contract provider. I agree with my insurance company and the service contract provider is "re-evaluating". However, I don't expect them to change their mind.

I'm glad my insurance will cover both items but feel that the service contract provider should cover the one item that the contract specifies falls under their purview. It will cost $600 less a $100 deductible ($250 deductible with my insurance).

Any suggestions as to how I might convince my service contract provider to honor their contract? I feel that the fact that I'm covered by insurance should have no impact on the fact that the damaged item is also covered by the service contract policy.

What determines which policy holds precedence?

I will also put this on a couple other forums in order to get a wider response.

This is a new one on me. I can't imagine what type of problem would be covered by both my extended warranty AND my coach insurance but I'd read the warranty contract and if it doesn't contain language which specifically states that they provide coverage which is secondary to insurance I'd push back on them hard.

All depends if it the part just failed or you run over something that damaged it.

Ditto on what Rick said.

What exactly is broken and needs repair? How did these items fail? Accident, storm, missue, or just plain failure?

This is a new approach for the extended warranty companies to use I guess. I've heard about every excuse possible for them to not pay for something but this is really unique approach.

I too would like to know the details of the failure.

In my case, it's an awning, which I'm going to blow off on the service contract, and a warped HWH jack. I can't imagine any way possible the jack would've warped other than a defect because I sure haven't driven with it down. Awnings are impossible to claim on a service contract unless you get additional coverage for them and I didn't.
