My sharp has been working great - even tonight I micro'ed most of dinner then tried to heat the mashed potatoes and noticed the turn table would not turn - then found that there was no heat either - any thoughts or just replace???

Assuming you had turn table on and you incoming electrical power is ok, I'd replace it. I just replaced ours and it was cheaper and simpler than trying to tear it down, find parts and repair. My 2 cents..

Check and verify your safety micro switches are closing properly. When they don't close properly most microwaves will still allow the counter to tick down and engage the cooling fan but will not kick on the magnetron (microwave beam) nor the turntable.
