Sharp R1870 microwave/convection oven problem

We have a Sharp R1870 microwave/convection over in our MH. It shuts down after 59 seconds and you have to hit the start to continue the cooking process every minute regardless of how long you set the timer for. This is in the microwave mode We haven't tried the convection as yet. We have seen lots of cases where this problem exists with this model on-line, but there have been several ideas for resolving the issue. Can anyone provide some real-life experience with this problem?

Generally speaking, the problem you are encountering has happened to a lot of people and is usually caused by a faulty dmaper motor within the microwave/convection oven. Ball park costs to fix should be in the $150-$175 range if done by a service shop and obviously much cheaper if you were to DIY. Here is a link to previous discussions and fixes for this annoyance.

I suspect that the motors going bad has to do with operating them on a modified sine wave inverter.
The microwave ovens never sound happy when they are operated on the inverter. Specifically motors do not operate well on modified sine wave AC.
