Hi I am new to this group and I have a question about shore power. I plan on buying a fifth wheel with 50 amp service. My question is if I run power to the coach from a house that has 100 amp 3 wire service, will I end up with a situation where I am tripping breakers? Ex. like when we are using the AC and the microwave in the coach, and the AC and dryer in the house. Any in put would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to IRV 2.

I am sure you will get better answers than this, but you will trip breakers on the house circit if the sum of all your appliances exceed 100 amps.

The fifth wheel will most of the time not exceed 45 amps. If you have 2 A/C's, (which you probably do as the 5th wheel has 50 ampseervice) and you run them both along with the Micro, fridge, a toster, and an electric water heater, you will be close to limit.

You will have to study what is in the house that you may run at the same time and need to stay under 50 in the house.

If you are just powering the 5th for use "sometimes", you can get by with a 30 amp hook up.
I ran 50 amp breaker out to my garage and I took a 30 amp breaker in the garage AC panel for power to the RV. I leave one of my AC units on and the refrig. on. I have people stay over in it and have never had a problem. I usually will only run 1 ac unit, the Fridge, and the Microwave.
If you are parked in the sun, you may need to hook up a 50 amp breaker to the RV, so you can run both AC units, etc.. It depends on what you are going to do with the RV.
