Does anyone here have experience with the new Shurflo 4008 Revolution water pump? I just purchased one but will not be able to get it installed for a while yet, and I'm wondering what I can expect.

This new pump was highly touted on another forum. Based on those rave reviews, I purchased this pump and replaced the original equipment in my 2005 Winnebago Journey 39F. I had previously done all the things recommended to reduce or eliminate the "hammering," with no success. The new pump was no improvement and the "hammering" continued. I am returning the new pump and filter.

That's my experience.

I have installed one, but haven't been out to test it yet. According to the specs, instead of it short cycling, it's supposed to have a bypass in it to allow the pump to run continuously when there is a low volume requirement. After I installed it, I ran the outside faucet at a low volume and the pump short cycled just like the one I replaced. Haven't tried it in the shower yet.

Like any pump, the 4008 will not alleviate intrinsic problems such as pulsing (usually caused by restricted systems due to presence of low-flow water filters), water hammers, or vibration. On the other hand, if your system is sound, the 4008 should prove to be a decent pump. I've used one for 18 months with no problems. It's not as quiet as the Extreme series but it's not a screamer either.

I just finished a nine day trip with the newly installed 4008. It is quieter than the standard pumps, but not as quiet as the Extreme 5.7 that it replaced. Other than at the very lowest flow it provides water without pulsation, even without an accumulator tank. Considering all of the headaches I had with the 5.7, I am very pleased with this pump.

Talking to a local dealer while back, another option would have been the Extreme 4.0. It supposedly has not had the problems associated with the 5.7 pump. But at about twice the price of the 4008, I decided against it. My problematic 5.7 will become a transfer pump.

I finally got out and tried the pump out. Pulsing in the shower is gone. The pump runs constantly when the shower is on. Like Kurmugeon, the only time the pump pulses is a very low volume (I guess that's what my original test was).

It's also much quieter than the pump it replaced. We are happy with it.

I replaced our original Shurflo pump last year with the Revolution and have been very pleased with it. Our coach has the small accumulator tank so we have no pulsing or surging even at low flows.
