Not sure if this is the right place for this question but I need to know how to raise the slides on my Winnebago.

We want to replace the carpet and existing vinyl with laminate or a better vinyl product and the slides need to be raised for better clearance. I should had had them adjusted while under warranty as they have always left marks on the vinyl and now the carpet is ripping in 2 places.

I believe they are Power Gear if that makes a difference.

Hi wthomas1,
The questions is specific to your make of coach. You might get the best answers by posting this in the Winnebaggo owners forum.

I first posted the question there and received no replies. Thought I would try here.

Hi Wayne. It's a great question and one would think there would be a straight forward answer. But, in the many times I've asked the same question that doesn't seem to be the case.

I want to do the same with mine for the same reasons as you except I have already replaced the flooring with Allure tile and I'm getting some scratching on my new floor.

The answers I have received from those whose opinions I certainly respect have indicated that the hieght of the slide is something that is determined at the time of manufacture and is not adjustable. I know that looking at the workings of my slide they sure seem to have adjustments for this but I'm sure not about to start turning nuts and bolts.

It would be interesting to see what they would have done under wty with the problem of the slide ripping your carpet.

Good Luck...

Rick

Rick

I have spoken with people who had their flooring replaced and asked them about slide adjustments. They all told me the shop adjusted them. The local Winne dealer closed shop so I will have to find another shop to ask. Maybe a call to Winne is in order?

It looks like there are bolts and nuts that can be adjusted but like you , I am afraid to start adjusting things that I know nothing about.

Speaking from personal experience, it's hard to find anyone who actually knows how to properly adjust a slide mechanism. We just retrieved our 5er from the Dutchmen service center in Goshen, IN. While it was there they noticed one slide was not operating properly. It had been "adjusted" by the dealer under warranty because it cut the carpeting and they had to replace it. The Dutchmen service center determined that the slide had been improperly adjusted and had destroyed the gearbox, and one slide tube W/ gear rack.
IMO it is well worth the time and expense (when you are in the area) to visit your manufacturers service center and have your slide adjusted. In all fairness, it is a 600 mile round trip for us though.
If you wish to tackle adjusting it yourself, go to http://www.aerocoachinc.com/ownManua...ED+SLIDES-BEDS
to download your service manual.

Being an expert at everything except at what I am trying to accomplish at the time you know that i have the answer! Aside from that I was able to download a guide for the Power Gear Slides.
