2004 Jayco 31 TT: Prior to storage- slideout motor working WITHOUT issue.
Get camper out of storage, power it up as always, 12Vdc lights work from the Aux battery or the truck, and all accessories work when hooked up to 120VAC.
Except the slideout motor.
I've checked all the fuses @ the rear panel, no blown fuses.
I've pulled the slideout switch and jumpered the wires (paying attn to direction), no luck.
I've taken a spare 12Vdc battery, pulled the motor leads off the slideout motor, hooked the 12Vdc battery with test leads to the slideout motor- AND THE MOTOR WORKS FINE.
Would love to hear some thoughts on what to troubleshoot. Thx.

Is there another fuse somewhere near the slide motor?

Hi Testdummmy,
Welcome to iRV2.
1. Did you get 12 VDC at the switch?
2. Are there any components between the switch and the motor? Examples would be , slide controller, computer warning voice, power slide locks etc?
3. Are the slide locks released?
4. Were there traces of rodent activity while in storage?

Gary-
1. Will double check voltage @ switch. Had 11.5 at motor leads when switch was jumpered. (This was 11.5Vdc when i had Aux battery only. Will check what voltage is at switch AND motor leads, with 120VAC connected).
2. Don't think so- will double check.
3. No slide locks in existence.
4. This IS a concern. Pesky critters are employed by the communists and well trained. I am looking for areas that are no where near my motor leads, will provide feedback once this step is complete.

Well, not knowing anything about Jayco, but having pulled my hair out in a similar situation, I'm going to ask. Is there a master switch inside or outside the trailer that is specifically designed to kill all juice going to the slide so that little fingers cannot accidentally trigger the slide?
As also asked, is there an in-line fuseable link somewhere near the motor housing, or the pump/electric switch. Some RV's have an automatic resetting circuit breaker that will kick off if the amps are to high on the draw. If it failed in the open position there will be no current draw through it.
Voltages is nothing but the pusher of current down the wire to get things working. At 11.5 volts your current draw is going to be very high. The lower the voltage drops, the higher the current draw. There may be safety "nets" so that you don't fry the motor. Get the voltage up to 12.5 volts before trying to move the slide.
Good luck.

Make certain that the battery cables; both + and ground have good connections at both ends. Wayne has given you good advice about the voltage needed to operate the slide out. There is probably a controller between the wall switch and motor; it depends on the system and if it is a large switch, compared to a smaller one. If you do have a controller, there could also be a fuse on it. While the motor leads are disconnected, have someone push on the wall switch and use a volt meter to check for power at the switch and on the leads feeding the motor. If no power at all, look for a controller or call Jayco for assistance. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi Testdummmy,
11.5 VDC is way too low. Get the VDC up to 12.5 or more. There should be something between the switch and the slide motor. The something tells the slide when to stop (in or out).

If there are not mechanical "stops" that shut the motor off, then there will be a circuit board with a current limiting module. It could very well be bad. As stated, a call to Jayco may be in order.
I'm still betting on low voltage, high current.
