I have been having a problem with one of my slideouts, I keep breaking the shear pin, i'm on the third pin and have opened the slide maybe 8 times. It is on one of the larger and probably heaviest slides. It has the sink, stove, fridge, microwave and entertainment center all in this slideout. It seems to be opening straight. I am thinking when the 5th wheel came from the factory they would have put grease on slideouts if it was suppose to be greased, but there was no signs of any grease at all. Anyway I will attach a photo and if anyone knows if the areas in my photo should be greased. The areas are indicated in red. The Sealed rollers in the photo are all moving freely.

Hello and welcome Grimreaper,

The areas marked in red should have a coating of Dri Lube.
Do not put any grease in these areas.

Steve

Owners Manual for my 2002 Damon is pretty useless.... " It may be necessary to lubricate the slide assembly (rollers, slide tubes, lever assembly) with light oil to prevent rust buildup." I checked a 2006 manual and it had the same text. I haven't been able to locate any factory info relating to lubrication of the actual "working" gears.

keep in mine these are exposed to road dirt and grit. Grease or oil, combined with said dirt/grit make a crude grinding compound. Use Dri-Slide lubricant, It sprays on wet and black, the carrier quickly dries leaving a dry black film of molybdenum lubricant.
