I,like most have a smoke detector in my kitchen. However I was thinking ( I know that's dangerous ) that it might be a good idea to place one behind the fridge , either lower vent or upper vent ( my unit is in the slide ). I figure it would give me a precious minute or two more advance notice to get out.

What do you think?

It may or not help, but it certainly can't hurt!

Smoke detectors are sensative enough that the minutest smoke particle is picked up by them. I have one in the bedroom and main coach area. My wife is always setting them off while cooking LOL. My thought here is what if there is a malfunction of the detector and it goes off? it would be a pain in the a-- to pull the fridge, or were you thinking in the outside door/vent cover?

Neighbours Gennie or RV exhaust might be another issue to deal with.

Well I read of one guy that did this and it saved his coach and possibly his life. Went off when the Norcold caught fire. He had it up as far as he could reach from the access door outside.

May want to consider a fire extinguisher need something to save you and your coach.
Also smoke detector when your away from coach wouldn't help you.

I have also installed them in my outside storage compartment with my refrigerator, in the laundry room and near my converter. I consider it $20.00 well spent.

How sensitive are they to outside fumes from , generators, grills, engines and camp fires?
