Splendide 2000 dryer not heating

We have the Splendide 2000 combination WD 802M. Recently. the dryer began working sporadically. Sometimes it would heat and dry the clothes and sometimes, no heat at all. Now it has quit heating altogether.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how was it fixed? I have searched the Internet and haven't been able to find a place to buy repair parts for these washer/dryers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you go to splendide.com? They list troubleshooting guides, dealers, and contact numbers.

I did consult the Solution Center on the Splendide Website, but it doesn't address the dryer not heating.

I forgot to mention on my post that in addition to not heating, the dryer fan is also not blowing.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had this problem and what was done to repair it.

I bought a new Combo and had trouble in 3 weeks. I called the number in the book, in Washington state. The tech listened to it over my speaker phone and told me what was wrong and where my closet dealer was. They fixed it for free, pully was lose on the back. I had to pay to have it taken out and returned. The repair was free.

Call Splendide Parts & Service - they will walk you through the diagnosis and sell you any parts you may need. Very helpful people.

There are two safety interlocks on top of the drum for the heater system - they are mini-thermostats that will open if too hot (or defective) and shut the heater down. And if the fan is not running it will definitely be overheating. The fan itself could be bad or the circuit boards. Hope its not the board - they run about $325. You can probably guess how I know that...

You need to get the machine out so you can remove the top cover in order to diagnose much of anything.

Do as Gary says and get it out, take the top off and you will probably see the problem right away. Most likely you will find a burnt connection that feeds power to the heating element and blower motor right on top of the drum (right side looking from front of machine). There is thermal fuses, thermostat, heating element and blower motor that can be ohmed out if you see no visible damage. Let us know what you find.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Wizard, you're always there with a helping hand and I have really appreciated your knowledge over the years.

We will be leaving St. David, AZ Monday going to the RV rally in Albuquerque and then heading back to Dallas (home.) So, I will wait until we get home to pull it out and remove the top and order parts, if necessary. Yep, I too hope it's not the board. But it has been a faithful machine for seven years.

Thanks again,

Larry & Norma

Splendide's manufactured during a period of time around 2002-2003 had weak plug on "spade lug" type connectors on several of the high current circuit board connections. If these connectors were not replaced the weak connections caused heat which eventually would burn up the connections and damage the circuit board. Splendide makes an upgrade kit that replaces these connectors with heavy duty ones. I recently needed a single new connector and the only way to get it was to buy the kit, and amazingly it is less than $5 and included all the connectors.

As suggested, call Splendide and have your model and SN available and they should be able to assist you and should be able to advise if your Splendide needs the upgrade, or has been upgraded.

If you can use a standard electrical crimper and read electrical directions the kit can easily be installed. As stated, call Splendide, the tech help in Oregon (Dave??) has provided great service in the past.

My Splendide is mounted in a cabinet in the bathroom and has room to remove the top of the machine without removing it from the cabinet. The rear of the machine can be reached by removing a couple of the drawers from the dresser in the bedroom. The tech in Oregon replaced two pieces that broke from not being winterized right (not my fault and under warranty). I was able to also do this to correct the door lock. Maybe you can get to yours without removing the whole machine. I understand it is pretty heavy.
As was stated above, call Splendide distributor in Oregon, they are tremendously helpful.
