Checked, couldn't find anthing in the achieves.....
Sunday, Mo was doing a load of clothes. We heard a continuous clicking and went to see what it could be. The dial was clicking around and around the cycles, non stop and the red light was flashing. The tub had quit but it sounded like the motor was still trying to work, but not in sync with the dials' positon. We unloaded the machine tried to start the wash cycle again and after about 30 seconds the dial started rotating and clicking away! Checked the website. Said to set the dial to a 'reset' point, turn it off, and then try again. Same thing. We called the factory # listed Monday and they said to count the flashes and that would determine the problem. While we had him on the phone we did that and he said that it was either the board or the motor. He gave us 2 #'s for repairmen and said that since we would be goig to Winnebago in Sept that might be a better solution since the repairman would charge at least 2 trip charges plus parts and labor.
WHEW!! Long ramble, sorry.
My question is, the machine cost new about 1100.00. I have read here that a board costs about 350.00. Don't know about a motor. Has there been experience here with this problem and can I buy the parts? or does it have to be a dealer?
I feel confident I can do the repairs, been doing these things all my life. Might need a coach on determining if it's the board though.
ANY help and info would be appreciated.
Mike and Mo

Mike, when you set the timer dial to "reset", did you turn the machine back on. This is necessary to cancel any previous cycle. I have had to replace a motor only once in hundreds of these machines I have worked on. It have a broken lead off a winding and was brand new, in warranty. I would suggest you try it again and make certain that the unit pumps out completely. Good luck and keep us posted.

RV Wizard is right. Set it to 'reset', turn the system on, wait for the fast blinks to turn to a slow blink. This resets the computer. Turn it off, then set it back to your normal cycle. Assuming the board and motor are OK, it should wash and cycle correctly.

We've had this problem with our Splendide a number of times, and replaced the board the last time ourselves. The board replacement is not particularly difficult..it is harder to get it out of the cabinet to work on than to actually replace the board. You just have to be careful to make sure the connectors get back in the right place.

If you do need to replace the board, we got ours direct from Splendide. Had them bring one to a rally (FMCA Convention) they were going to be at anyway. Saved shipping cost. Don't remember now what the cost was.

Thanks to you both for the replies. When we talked to Splendide they were vague about what to do as far as order goes. When I get home I'll try the reset in the order you prescribed and see what happens. Is there a paticular reset we should set it at? we were in the regular wash cycle when this happened.
I did remove the front kick panel and check the drain there, it had a small piece of paper in it, I removed it and looked up inside and all was clean and clear. I also checked the drier exhaust and it is clear through the outside.Tried the washer again and the same thing happened with the dial.
I also went to a site called rvtechlibrary and found the owners manuel for the machine. Not much info but it's nice to have.
The biggest gripe we have is we haven't washed but about 30 loads or less in this machine. Mo prefers to walk over to the laundry since it's only about 100 yards away and she can do all of the wash at once.
Thanks,
Mike and Mo

My DW had this problem on a few occasions. It's easy to get the board "out of sync". At times, resetting didn't clear the problem. I resolve the problem by turning off the C/B to the machine for 10-20".

Had a similar problem but cured the dial problem by resetting as Wizard indicated. Panel lamp then flashed a code indicating a bad pump or motor but the unit was pumping the water out so figured that the motor was bad. Pulled out drawers in the bedroom dresser and the back off the washer in order to get to the motor and discovered the belt had been thrown off. Put the belt back on and machine worked as advertised. Factory tech while being very helpful, was convinced that the pump was bad. Moral of this story is to always check the obvious (and not so obvious) before buying expensive parts..

Ours has done this several times, most often caused by attempting to re-adjust the dial after the cycle start has been pushed. Mike's advice worked for us every time.

Lots of help coming in, thanks.

Last night we set and reset the dial as directed, even turned off the circuit breaker for a while and tried it again. Still it starts up just fine, seems to start the filling process, then after 2 minutes will sound as though it is pumping and then the dial will start clicking around. (with the light blinking 2 times, pauseing and blinking 2 more times, repeatedly)

Mo wants me to get on the phone to Winnebago and go balistic, as I said it's used very little though we've owned the MH for almost 2 years. Don't think that will help my relation with them though!
I think this Saturday I'll pull it out and open it up, maybe it is something as simple as the belt as Ray said. We hate to spend a pile of money on a convienence, we need a TPMS a lot more!
RV Wizard, can I PM you?
Of course, any more help would be appreciated.

Chief offered the tip about the belt, not me. Splendide has a toll-free help line that folks who used it say is great. Someone might have that number handy and respond.

And you can buy your parts direct from Splendide (Westland Sales) as well. I've done it a couple times, including $325 for a new circuit board for a 2000S.

The Service Support guy is outstanding and will walk you through the diagnosis procedure if you want to do it yourself.

Here's the latest....
This morning I struggled the Splendide out of the cabinet and pulled off the back and top to check for obvious problems. Everything seems tight and right by sight. Tested the things I could with continuety and all tested fine. I called all the numbers I had for the servicemen in the area, only 1 number was good and he said he no longer services them since they were so hard to remove from the cabinets and then to order parts the bill was so high that the people often didn't pay. His opinion was that "they are a piece of junk" . Even though we have used it very little it is out of warrenty so whatever we do is out of pocket. My bride is discouraged but says get rid of it, it is a convienence and if it costs us major dollars to keep repaired then it no longer is worth the convience of having it. You can wash a lot of loads of clothes for 350-400.00! It sure seems a shame to me.
SO, guess I'll reinstall it in the closet and have Winnebago remove it from the MH in Sept when we go up there if they won't help any.
(Gonna wait for a while and see if any wisdom comes my way from the gallery)

Yep...about 150 loads unless you're where we were once last year and it was $3 to wash and $5 to dry.

We also have a Splendide and love it but of course its only three years old and had maybe 150 loads run through it and still works fine.

We used the expensive place because we needed to wash a comforter and some rugs. If and/or when ours breaks, it will get repaired or replaced. Go sit in a laundromat for an hour or so watching your clothes tumble. Its hot, humid and only God knows what was washed in the machine before you used it.

Someday I'll share with you what some friends (?) used to do in those machines when I was in college...well maybe not.

To be honest Mike, I don't think the serviceman (I use the term loosely) knows how to repair them and so his comment is a way for him to side step the repair. Some parts can be expensive but over the life of what I have seen not usually, if the user does not abuse it. Ours lasted 8 years with one pump rebuild; using it every day. We were full timing back then.
