Dan,
Since we have a Travel Supreme, I don't know if this will work for you...
During the post-sale walkthrough of our TS, the previous owner showed us what to do if the steps would not come out. Try lifting up one of the fixed steps. If it does, you may see several wires under there that crimped together. Gently pull on the wires to see if they have come loose from their crimps.
Many decades ago, I was an electronics technician in the Air Force. A major cause of random problems like this was a bad physical connection.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Dan.

Ours does the same thing, it will work for a while than quit. It fails to extend, and if on the road it might work the next time. Some times will have to tap the linkage while opening the door to get it to work. Have been soaking the linkage with WD 40for the past few days and cycling the steps in and out , this weekend will use the kwikee lube to see if that works. Its hard to find, where it works most of the time.

Kinda funny.... I just went to check on the MH and all the sudden my Kwikee step wont extent on my 2005 Sportscoach. The light comes on and I hear a faint "click" and another click about 5 seconds later but I cant get the steps to extend. Control unit? any suggestions? I tried pounding on it but that didn't help

It has been mentioned above, but lubrication is vital. The step controller travel is controlled by (for lack of better term) resistance. If it senses a certain level of resistance it will stop (example hits a curb) or not even start, when it reaches full in or out it stops. I suggest you disconnect the power remove the linkage and be sure the step is moving freely as a starting place. BE CAREFUL, they have the ability to bite!!!

I got a bigger hammer, called it a few choice names with a bit of sarcasm ,beat it a few times and now it works like a charm. I just lubed everything a few months ago, but have driven 2500 miles since then so I cleaned and lubed everything, hopefully that will work.

Had that problem too. (Kwikee step).
The gear on motor was worn (loose) and the answer was a new motor. Mine was a window lift motor that fit many Ford vehicles. I think I paid about $40. for mine. Problem solved!
Good luck,
Steve
