My AC worked fine plugged in a few weeks ago (30 amp) but now when I use it, it just cycles on, blows for about 30 seconds, then shuts off. Though maybe I didn't have enough power (plugged in at home, short ext cord) so I tried with the generator and it does the same thing. This is with the "comfort control center" on "cool" and "auto". If I leave the "comfort control center" on high or low, the fan comes on and blows, but it doesn't blow cool air. All breakers are on. Is there a hidden breaker that maybe just runs the AC compressor? It's under warranty, but I hate to make the trip if it's something easy.

Possibly a start capacitor.

It sounds like the compressor isn't starting. The compressor most likely has a thermal overtemp sensor on it that's tripping out after 30 seconds. When it cools off, it will automatically reset, so if you try it again and the compressor still doesn't start, it would go through the same process.

Could be a start capacitor - could be a compressor.

Possibly it has a self-diagnostic function that can point you in the right direction. Check with the manufacturer's help line.

Dave,

We had that exact problem and my SO replaced the start capacitor (there's a kit) and he also replaced the plug on the power cord from the RV to the generator, which was not in the best shape.

Update: took in for warranty. They checked operation of capacitors, thermostat and compressor...all good. Determined it was the board. Changed board and it wasn't fixed. Ended up changing a little black dealy called a PTCR (I think it acts like a diode?). Swapped the original board back in. Now I have AC on High and Low....but not on Auto. (I think they buggered the board when they swapped them) If I start it with the fan on High or Low, wait until I hear the compressor kick on, then flip it to Auto, it will run one cycle. When the lower temp is attained, the AC shuts off but will not restart. Back it goes.....
