Tried a search and came up empty.
I have a Suburban 12 Gallon DSI HWH. An issue started yesterday. When using hot water the HWH will not automatically sense the water temperature and ignite automatically. If I shut the switch off and back on again it will light and run normally.
I was thinking thermostat but, if so, why would it then work manually.
Any ideas?

here is more info.
#1, I leave the electric element on all the time as I am in cold weather.
2. This seems to happen only when the first person is taking their shower. Yesterday I ran out of hot water. Turned gas switch off and then on and the burner lit. DW took her shower this morning and barely had enough hot water. I turned the gas switch off then on and the orange light came on and the burner lit. When I took my shower (about 45 minutes later) it was fine. DW did not notice if the burner lit during my shower or not.
It acts almost as if the gas burner goes to sleep and doesn't light during her shower. Then by cycling the switch it woke up.

I know this sounds dumb, but is the propane tank full, 1/2 or 1/4 full?

oh yea, LP is not the problem. I have the RV hooked up a 420# (not a typo) cylinder that is 75% full right now with my 30# as a backup..

Check all connections first, including ground. It is hopefully just back connections. If this does not resolve the issue you probably have an operating T'stat that may have burnt or dirty points and needs to be replaced.
