Suburban water heater switch

My Raptor "Suburban water heater" switch evidently overheated slightly. The switch won't turn to the off position. Assume an internal failure.

Question would be do these fail often? It is 10 years old. Second part would be: did it overheat possibly due to a thermostat issue? May have been a terminal connection on the switch that was not real secure creating a high resistance issue causing heat? Just concerned about a fire source. Thanks

They are cheap switches and are exposed to the elements so corrosion/high resistance does occur

I bought a trailer that was 12 years old, and the switch was stuck off. Dealer shot it with WD-40 and it started working fine. 7 years later, it happened again. Did the same "fix", and it's working just fine again.

Update - Thanks

Thanks all for your solutions. I ordered another switch and should arrive tomorrow. $9.00 for that switch was ridiculous but assures perfect fit back in the rectangle opening.
