Need some help. The rv is 50A and I have a 50A surge protector. I will be staying at a friends house that has 30A service. Should I still use my 50A surge protector or her 30A surge protector. Also, if using a 30A extension cord, at what point does the surge protector go.

Use your 50 amp surge protecter. Connect to the house service with a 50 to 30 amp adapter (aka: "dog bone") between your protector and the house power.
