Switch 12v to 24v battery bank

In setting up a new 5th wheel with a battery bank, solar and 2,000w inverter I was thinking of getting two 200ah AGMs and wiring them in series as a 24v battery... This would allow me to take advantage of the 24v efficiencies of the charge controller and 2,000w inverter

The two issues I am wondering how to solve is:

1. The 5th wheel landing gear/leveling jacks will need a pretty high Amp source that is consistent... I was thinking I could just wire these directly to just one of the 12v batteries in the 24v series - I know this could cause an imbalance between the batteries but the jacks/lever are only used for a few minutes so minimal long term draw will occur?

2. The general 12v needs to the rig (and the slide motors -small ones that drive a cable slide system) would need a 24 to 12v converter - What would you recommend?... Would a 40amp be sufficient as that is the highest amp fuse in the rig?

I have a 24/3000 inverter. My battery bank feeds the inverter, the inverter powers the OEM converter, and the converter provides all 12v power to the coach, except the jacks which only work with the engine running.

I guess the biggest draw is the slides and I haven’t had any issues. Your jacks may draw too much for your converter but if you can make this work it’s a simple solution.

Talk to Randy at http://www.bestconverter.com/ and you’ll get good information and options.
