Sylvania convection microwave

When the DW use the microwave part she will put something in and set the power on med ( I always nuke stuff) she will then set it for time usually around 10 Min when it shuts off so she can turn the food over it SHUTS OFF and then you cant get it to work again for about 2 or 3 min. Is there a problem or is this normal for this machine. We have had microwaves in the past and one in our stick house never had this problem before

It could be an issue with venting. What style unit is it and how is it installed? In other words is it a count top unit installed in a cabinet? or does it hang over the stove? Do you hear a circulation fan running during cooking?

Wiz it is installed above the stove and I do hear a fan running when the microwave is running. I appears that the unit also is part of the stove vent

There should be a fan moving air over the magnatron tube to dissipate the heat generated. It may be as simple as removing the unit and cleaning all vents. You should be able to test before reinstalling.
