We are getting ready to buy our "fulltime" 5er, and we've noticed a wide range in grey/black water tanks. Since we plan to do a lot of boondocking I want the largest tanks I can get. Is it possible to upgrade to larger tanks on most trailers or is it wysiwyg? It would be really annoying to find the perfect floor plan then discover the tanks were inadequate.

Depends where they are if under the floor maybe a problem if they are in a exposed compartment up front you maybe able to change out with some extra plumbing.
You have to make sure you empty them or may cause problems with extra weight on frame of 5th.

Plastic-Mart - RV HOLDING TANKS : might help you decide if you have space for a larger tank. As Roger said, you might have structural issues with larger tanks and weight.

$$$$$$$$ talk and you can have almost anything done, but is the rv able to carry the weight? Full timing how much boondocking will you do and will a blue boy type tank do the trick. Gray water is the biggest holdup.

Thanks for all the info! We plan to spend as much time as possible boondocking when we get out west. We have boondocked many times before, so are used to being conservative with the grey-water tank. However, when nature calls, there had better be room at the Blackwater Inn! We are counting the days now till August... Ten times worse than waiting for Christmas!
