Tankless hot water

What is the secret to this thing? Yes it works great but if you try and adjust it well in the shower it goes ice cold!!! Must start all over by putting shower head on the floor to try & get the temperature right. I just pray its not too hot or cold.
Does this happen to anybody else?

A friend of mine said he set his at 92, that was perfect for his family. It sounds like the water heater has to be set so you use no cold water.

Biggest issue with these things is they absolutely must have steady water pressure to work correctly.

I set my temp so that I only use the hot side of the faucet.

Works great like that. If you try to mix cold water in, you start doing the hot/cold dance.

My tankless water heater has a display on the bathroom wall. There is a hand towel ring above it, so it gets hidden if a towel is hanging.

It has on and off button, a water tempterature display and up and down buttons.

Wow you are so lucky. Mine does not have that. The only thing ours has is a little switch for high altitude.

Our LTV uses a Truma tankless heater. I have a water pressure regulator to maintain 55-60 PSI and it works perfectly. The temp is factory set at 120 deg F.

I turn mine down to 104 for a shower and do not need to add cold. Then back to 120 for everything else.

Thanks everyone, I’m going to pull the manual out again. Hopefully I’ll find something I missed before!

My unit...a Truma in a 2019 Navion....has 2 positions on the switch. One for all the time same temp at all outlets, one for "conserve" mode. This mode only turns the heater and recirculation pump on when the temp gets to 41degrees or so. Perhaps yours has such a switch and it is in conserve mode. This would account for constant mix adjustment at the shower head or sink.

If your bath layout supports it you can also turn your lavatory faucet to a small, hot stream to keep the hot water flowing when you adjust your shower. On my Atwood I set the temperature depending on the time of year. My safety shut off pops otherwise.
