We have a Tappan combination convection/microwave mounted over the 4 burner stove. This unit has the underhood ventilation to the outside and lights.
We noticed that it simply stopped working. No display, no lights, no click, buzz or hum - It acted as if it was unplugged. We plugged a hair dryer into the same outlet to make sure we had power at the outlet.
Pulled the unit down, removed the cover and found a simple 1/4 x 1 1/4 ceramic fuse mounted to the main circuit board. Being ceramic you can't see the filament inside to determine if it's blown or not. We pulled the fuse, checked continuity with a meter and sure enough that fuse was blown. Went to radio shack and bought a 4-pack for a whopping $2.99 installed a new one and the unit is working again! Ours uses a 15amp 250vac rated fuse, yours may be different, it's size/rating is listed right on the fuse body itself.. Hopefully this info will help someone in the future.
