Thermal Switch for Fridge Fans- Source

I installed a PC fan in back of fridge and within hours saw quite a drop on fridge temps. Installed a 95 degree disc type thermal switch (Ebay) which I tested by putting a meter on and holding against warm surface. It "clicked" on and now will not shut off even though it is 60 degrees out this morning and is not against any warm surfaces. I suspect it was defective. What temps have others used for the thermal switch and where is a source for a higher quality unit? Thanks, Tim

I got a small "Disc" type thermal switch at an electronics parts store.. This is the kind of store that "Joe's TV repair" shops at, not a Radio Shack.. Specifically RS Electronics in Livonia, MI but there are "Equivalents" all over the country.

An other solution is to pick up basic wall thermostat at a GoodWill or swapmeet. These are really no more than an adjustable thermal switch.

Are you talking the Mercury type switches? Two potential problems I see with that.
1. It has Mercury. A problem if the tube breaks.
2. Wouldn't the fan cycle on and off while the Mercury tube is bouncing around in transit?

Thanks for the help

I ordered a new disc type from Amazon. On at 100 degrees and off again at 85 degees. Installed and seems to be working fine. Came home tonight and fridge is 33 degrees with afternoon sun on that side of trailer and ambient temp of 90 degrees. Also have the Ebay interior fan going.

I bought the snap switch on ebay as well. Sounds like you just got a bad one. I ordered a 115 degree one. My refer had two fans already because it is mounted in a slide. One of the fans was not working until I fixed the wires. While at it I found the part number and ordered two more on ebay. I now have four fans being run by one thermostat. The fans make a tremendous difference with a refer mounted this way.
