Thermistor removal

I have a 2015 Dometic 2652 fridge. The freezer works fine but the fridge remained near 50 no matter what level the thermistor was placed. I tested the thermistor on an ohm meter and it checked out ok.

So it tried operating w/o the thermistor connected. The Dometic service manual recommends that as a test. The fridge went down into the 30s and the freezer below zero.

Do any of you see an issue with leaving it disconnected?

Thanks in advance.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I'm not familiar with Dometic fridges but it sounds like it is running fulltime without any temp control. I would think that would not be a problem unless the fridge gets too cold and starts freezing things! I think I would replace the thermistor, even though it tests good.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

The fridge will freeze.

You could try one of these, Dometic Thermistor 2931863035 Repair RM2612/52/2812/52

When you checked your thermistor did you just hook up your meter to test it. If so that isn't the proper way. You would have to put it in some ice cold water to test it to see if it changes in values on your meter. If it doesn't change you need a new one. If it changes the its good.

I did and it checked ok. The resistance increased in the cold water. However, I intend to replace with a variable thermistor like Snip the Tip.

My thermistor appeared to pass the cold water test however the fridge ran in the high 40's. I disconnected the thermistor and the fridge went to 32 degrees.

How long ago did you remove the thermistor? Any adverse problems with the fridge? It likely runs constantly.

It is still connected, the disconnect was a test. I jumped the thermistor with a 10K ohm resistor which made the control board think the fridge was warmer than it was. Runs about 35 degrees now. I thought about the snip variable sensor but decided a 2 cent resistor was good enough!
