I would appreciate any feedback regarding the Thetford Sani-Con box mound system. We were sure we were going to get on for the MH but talked with someone who had not had such good luck with his.

Thanks,
RJ

What sort of problem did he complain about? Most people love their Sanicon system because the small hose is so much easier to handle.

I've used a Sanicon system on and off again for a few years on our previous Winnebago Journey. When I installed the system, I installed it so that I could remove it whenever I wanted to use the 3" hose instead. The removal was easy by just taking off the hose from the tank outlet and unplugging the wiring. When I sold the Journey, I moved the Sanicon to the new rig, but I havn't used it in there yet. I usually find the the old fashioned hose dumps so much faster, it seems to drain the tanks better and more completly.

I still carry the Sanicon in a small plastic storage tub, and can attach it quickly if ever needed for dumping in a location where the sewer connection is located uphill from where the rig is and I can't use gravity flow.

PS.....here is a old picture of the system in the Journey sewer bay.

Joe,

Thanks for the info and pics. Now I'm not so sure if it's worth it or not. I've been told that it's slower but not as messy. Fair statement?

Fair statement!

Probably another comment I could make about the speed, is that it matters more if you camp at locations where you may need to use a dump station rather than always being on full hookup sites. If you do plan to occassionaly use a dump station, you may want to be sure you can remove your system and use the 3 inch hose. With our current tank sizes, the sanicon would take about 15 minutes or so to pump out both tanks compared to 2-3 minutes to dump the tanks using the 3" hose connection. If at your own site, the 15 minutes may not be a bid deal, but if someone is behind you at a dump station, it wouldn't be very considerate to take that long.

Joe,

Thanks. Looks like the way to hook it up is as you had it. However, I seldom, if ever, use a dump station so I thing less mess and easier to use will justify the system.

Thanks,
RJ

I have the Clean-Dump system which is similar used it last summer full timing on front lawn of new house. Will pump 100' with no problem and no spillage its a clean dump.
While in use make sure the ladies know it will be messy if pump gets jammed.

I've had mine for about a year now and am very happy with my purchase.

I think it's very much like a garage door opener in that if you've never had one you wouldn't miss it, but once you have one you wouldn't be without.

I put one in when we bought our rig and was very happy until last year when the motor shorted out (not jammed/blowing fuses/etc). Luckily I had dumped the black but was just starting the black rinse. It was a bad enough experience that I still haven't decided whether or not to replace it.

What I loved was the small hose and clean/no smell. One of our pads requires over 30' from the tank to the sewer and the hands-down the sanicon was the best way of doing this; while the 3" is faster that was not a big factor and we used back-flushing from the grey to really clean out the black with soapy water (from the washer).

Only thing that I didn't like (other than the failure episode) was slow draining of the grey and the occasional need to remove the bypass hose and clean it due to lint from the washer. The DW likes not having it as she doesn't need to check the grey level before starting a wash cycle.

Some day I may forget enough aboutthe problem I had to replace it...but until then I'm sticking with the stinky slinky.
