I get a bad odor of sewer gas when I open the lid on my toilet only. I do not smell it other wise. It holds water and does not drain down even for several weeks. There is no visible leaking around the base of water. I did pick up a seal kit for the base but I have not taken the time to install it because I did not know if it would take care of the problem. Is that where the gas is leaking by? Other ideas?

Thanks Paul

Well I put off that project for quite some time like today.
I first posted this on 10-22-08 and could not reply to old thread.

I ordered a seal kit for it because this time when I came home it would not hold water. When I went to remove the two bolts that hold it to the flange the front one had come out of the key way. The two large foam seals where in very bad shape and you could see where there had been some leakage. Not to hard of a project and I am testing it now to make sure it is holding water.

As a side note I had a Flair-it shutoff valve in a drawer for a few years so I cut the line and put the valve in since once before the flush valve failed and would run all the time. This way I could turn it off and still have water in the trailer. Being from Missouri I had to test the valve to see if it would not leak. Failed test I had a small geyser so I thought I might have turned it the wrong way, nope large geyser. So I guess watch your Flair-it fittings and I guess I could change it at some time later.

No leaks water holding.
