I have an '05 Generac Guardian RV 7500 Watt generator. It runs good but I know I should be doing something about the antifreeze (flush, etc) but I can't find a radiator or drain site. Can someone help me? And what is the preventive mantenance for the generators...any brand. Is it a shade-tree job or do the pros do this one? I change the oil and filters in it, but I am no gear head. I envy you guys that can fix anything!

Unless it is a diesel generator, I believe your generator is air cooled.

You can find the owners manual on the Generac website under the ' Service & Support' link and www.generator-parts.com has all the service manuals for download (your engine is covered under the first link- OHVI V-Twin series Engine service Manual for GTV 990/760)) - both your engine and generator are air cooled - in additon to changing the oil and filters and spark plugs if you have compressed air available you can blow out in and around anywhere you can get at to clean the garbage that gets collected in there- the genset will have an air intake and exhaust (on the bottom ) and the intake picks up all kinds of dirt and dust (check the air intake regularly as things like plastic bags can get pulled in there and and block the passagway) - use an air nozzle with an extended tip and stick it anywhere you can in and around inside - wear safety eye glasses when doing this as a lot of garbage usually comes out- also when changing your oil if the oil filter is mounted vertically (it is on the 7500 Watt RV generators) you can pre-fill the oil filter with oil before installing - this provides instant oil pressure when first starting up- just fill to the top of the filter and let it sit for a minute and it will drain down inside -keep doing this until the oil stays at the top then install )- the only other maintenance item is valve adjustment and its covered in the service manual.

Shade tree stuff. Just change the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter and spark plug. Usually annually.
