I am installing a Progressive Industries EMS hardwired system (50 amp) and can't find the info as to whether the Dometic Brisk Air 15000 AC units have time delay circuitry. The Progressive unit is factory set for 15 seconds delay (which makes me think the ACs are protected) but you can set the Progressive unit for 135 seconds delay if the AC units are not time delay protected. The only thing I find in the manual is the AC has to be wired to a time delay fuse or breaker. That would appear to be for the external wiring circuitry rather than internal workings. Anybody have input on this? Thanks.

Hi LLonearth,

I just installed the Dometic Brisk Air 15000 last summer and it works well. It has no delay; the compressor goes on immediately when switched to cool. The airflow is great. The three things I do not like about this unit are that it cannot be set to keep the fan on and cycle the compressor on and off. The thermostat is set to kick off at too high a temperature (I had the thermostat reset by a friend who knew what he was doing). This was the biggest problem and required him opening up the thermostat, adjusting it with a hex wrench, and putting the probe in water and ice using a thermometer to get it down to 50 degrees. When factory set, the A/C would turn off at a coach temperature of 80 –85 degrees. My buddy said that the thermostat layout on this thing wasn't good and the cold outlet air was getting sucked up into the intake and shutting the T-stat off. Lastly, the darned thing will not work with a wall-mounted thermostat, even the one that controlled my old 13,500 BTU Dometic. I spoke to Dometic about 5 months ago and they said they were working on providing a kit to work with a wall stat...at additional cost.

Regards,
Spare

Hi Seth, Tiffany and Henry(MH Dog) Winick,

Thanks for the nice welcome! I have been a lurker here and have learned quite a few things from all of you. I decided to join in hopes that I may be able to help out someone as well.

Regards,
Spare

No reply from Dometic as to restart delay circuitry and Stanley Miller suggested testing by running AC, turning it off and restarting after 30 seconds. Compressor restarted immediately...so no delay, I guess. Therefore, I pulled the jumper cap (in slog J-6, next to the remote cable input for those of you keeping score) which sets the time delay function to 136 seconds. Better safe than sorry, my grandpa used to say. Of course, that's the same grandpa who also used to say "It's never too late to procrastinate."
