i am not a full timer. i usually do a three day weekend every month from March to October. i usually travel with 1/3 of a tank of fresh water. this is for toilet flushing, washing hands, and most of all, i have the MotorAid so having water in my HWH acts like a heat sync.
the question is, if i go every month, is it necessaryto dump the 1/3 of a tank of fresh water and drain the HWH ? i know i should do this at the end of the season, but is it really needed during the season ?
what do most of you do ??

I use mine like you do except pend January to April in the southwest. I drain mine in October then fill on my way to the southwest when I get out of the overnight freezing area. Don't have any problems.

I would recommend that you have some chlorine type chemical in the water. I have well water at home so this can be an issue with me. I need to be sure I pick up water at a campground to take home. Never had an issue with letting water sit for 4 weeks.

i should have mentioned that i was concerned about having water in the tank for a while and it growing mold and mildew ?? or would it be better to have a full tank if it is going to sit ??
thanks again for your opinions

I try to keep my water fresh. Don't know if it's necessary but it makes me feel better. I am a heart transplant recipient and it's very important to stay germ free as much as possible.

If it's going to sit more than a week I drain the fresh tank but tend to not worry about the lines or WH tank until time to purge for winter.

If it's a concern use one of the many products for cleansing a fresh system, especially if you're not drinking it. I flush every year with a bleach derived product, but that taste is kinda rough, so I make sure it gets cleaned out.

i flush/sanitize the lines and fresh tank with bleech and water every spring before i use it. i just have visions of mold and bacteria growing with water in the fresh tank and HWH.
