Never has so much has been written, by so many, as on the subject of the right toilet tissue to use in ones RV. With that said, here's a little test that can be performed by any of you good folks who care to "debunk" all the tales/rumors on what's best for your rear and RV
Many people use a "clear plastic" black water connection in-line which gives a birds eye view of the sliding waste exiting the BW tank. At the rate of speed the water/waste is traveling its really hard to access the state of the toilet tissue decomposition after several days collection in the waste system.
The test:
Take a large clear glass/plastic bottle/jar (a extra large pickle bottle with lid is ideal).
Fill the bottle half way with water and drop in several sheets of your favorite bath/toilet tissue.
Place the lid on the bottle tightly and give it one or two good shakes.
Sit back with your favorite cold one or a good book, if you have the patience, and actually observe how long it takes the tissue to disolve. As your waste tank is emptied after several days, doing the test over several hours would seem reasonable. Remember to give the bottle/jar a little shake ever hour (this will duplicat the flushing of your toilet).
As silly as this test may sound, you could also add a few drops of your favorite Black Tank Chemical to the water to validate your test
After spending a total of eight months in my MH over the past two years, I've used only two brands of RV Specific Tissue, both of which were purchased at Wal-Mart. Never had any issues with either brand
I'm in the process of testing three house tissues, and when that's done I'll give the results.
For those of you who are inquisitive, and perform the test, please share your results

We were in a park that was doing that same test about 4 or 5 years ago. Obviously they were bored and needed something to do. However, the end result was Angle Soft brand performed the best with a couple of others that I can't remember coming in at a close second. We have used Angle Soft ever since and never had any sort of problem.

We use Scott single ply and have had no problem either at home or our RV. We put 1/3 water in tank, valve closed and dump every 2 to 3 days. Using lots of water IMO is the key for any type tissue.

Yes well, I've tried all of them. NONE of them break down satisfactory!! No matter what kind, there is ALWAYS a few clumps left in the tank when I rinse it out after dumping. IMHO, the better solution is to purchase one of the rinse things. If your RV doesn't come with one (ours does) I just bought a clear plastic connection for my valve at Wal Mart that has a hose connection. Less than $20!!

What a "crappy" subject.
For the sake of levity, my test is to take two sheets of paper. Fold it so there is only one square showing. I then wet my finger and test the TP. If the finger goes through I try a different brand. So far I'm still using Angel Soft, but I have to be careful because the finger can go through.
Moral: Be careful of wet fingers.

Once the laughter and zingers clear, if they ever do, we'll be down to business as to what is the best RV Pooper Paper.

I have read the results of several tests, I have seen what happens when I pump out my tanks.. One of the more interesting things is that the SLOWEST disloving tissue in the tests.. By the time I get my pants up, go out and pull the lever..... It makes no difference if I'm using Scotts or Quilted Charmin (Fastest and slowest) the time to break up has passed.
Of course the pump makes mush of it too, right fast.

Having a masticator after the black water valve is a nice option Unfortunately that device does little for toilet tissues which are slow disolving in the tank. This is the stuff that "fouls" tank level sensors! Maybe someone will design a RV toilet with a built-in grinder which will make mush of things before they enter the tank. The resulting mush, when diluted with water, should remedy all problems associated with black water

My rig came with an Accugauge. I am a retired plumber. I am a full timer who travels a lot. I use the supposedly worst toilet paper for RV's. I use Charmin Ultra and have since I got the rig in 7/06. My one concession is to tear each square off the roll before I use it. Of course I use multiple squares. I do not leave the toilet paper in one long string. It does not break down in the week between black tank drainouts and I doubt that any other brand breaks down signifantly either. There is just not enough time for the paper to break down.
I have yet to have a problem with stoppages or my gauge. If I do I am qualified to fix it. Once a month or so before I travel, I flush the black tank good and put 5 gallons back into the 70 gallon tank. I then put 1 cup of laundry detergent and one cup of water softner down the toilet. This keeps the tank well cleaned out. I leave it in the tank until it needs draining again.

AH YES WAYNE...this would be the real test. It would be great to have a paper that disolves quickly but how quick is to quick or how thin is to thin? Before the paper arrives to the black tank it needs to first take care of the mater at hand so that there is no mater in hand. Because the paper disolves quickly, I would hope that I would not need to pull off four feet of paper each time and fold several times to insure a safe and clean experience.
Just saying
