Oh oh. The wind kicked up last night and tore my big awning. The tear is about 2 feet long and it is close to where the awning attaches to the RV.
Is there a way to repair this, other than replacing it?

Not really anything that will really hold and last.

But it is not very hard to change the "Fabric".

Only pain is that it takes two or three folks to do it due to how it needs to be removed and the new fabric put on. The biggest thing is to make sure you "Pin" the spring before takeing it off the rig.

Much depends on what your awning is made of. Vinyl or Canvas. You can have awnings sewn/repaired. Of course the awning material has to be in decent condition. Doi NOT use Eternabond if you plan on having the awning sewn/repaired.

A first aid type of repair that some use is "Eternabond". Yes, you can approximate the edges of the rip with Eternabond. Will not look great but will get you through til you replace the awning. It will help keep the awning from tearing further.

Here is Eternabond's website and here is the best place to order.

I have seen a few awnings (3) patched with Eternabond. It does repair the rip. Will get you by easily til you do the replacement.

Thank you for your input Don and Bill. Upon further review, the tear is about 1 foot long, right at the stitching. The cloth is vinyl, and it is on Colorado Spririt FX hardware.
I presume this is the original 25 year old fabric, although all the smaller window awnings are canvas. There are signs of deterioration of the vinyl in other places on it, so I guess I should replace it.
I don't have a roll of Eternabond but I may get some. In the meantime I'll use a little duct tape. I know it won't last but it should help.
